Yellowzine 'New Traditions' issue launch: Celebrating artists of a new era

On the 26th of November we hosted an exhibition/party celebrate the launch of our latest issue 'New Traditions'. Following a two-year hiatus (big up Covid), we have come back with an issue that diverges away from the traditions we have set for ourselves. As those who follow Yellow know, our issues usually comprises of artists of the same discipline. So far, we've covered; illustration, photography and styling. This time however, in line with the theme, we chose do to something different.

This issue showcases and explores the journeys of artists across photography, illustration, sculpting, hair styling, audio, textiles, collaging, lino printing and more. To truly celebrate artists defining an era, we could not look at one practice alone, we had to go beyond.

To mark this launch of the issue, we invited our Yellowzine family to celebrate with us. The launch exhibited the works of artists: Esai Asiaw, Haseebah Ali, Karis Beaument, Sabah Foster, Shamara Roper, Sinae Park and Zethu Maseko. The programme of the night included DJ sets from Adesuwa, Nooru and Ella DHC, and performances by saxophonist Akachi Priscilla Mbakwe and spoken work artist and playwright lanaire aderemi. We'd like to say thank you also to our event sponsor Get Disha for supporting the event. As well, a massive shout out to our drink sponsors Karma Drinks and One True Maverick for supplying the vibes through the night. And of course, to our artists and our Yellowzine community, thank you.
