Elegy by Gabrielle Goliath at Ibraaz

Goliath’s strikingly sombre performance installation, Elegy, has come to the UK to commemorate the one year anniversary of Ibraaz’s opening. The artist’s work contends with themes of loss, grief and structural violence by bringing together women as a singular ongoing voice of mourning. In its current form in Ibraaz’s Minassa, Goliath’s installation deals with contexts of femicide in South Africa and the ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people.

Aspects of Self by Richard Ikhide at Hope93 Gallery

A combination of Yoruba mythology, Jung’s psychology and ancestral knowledge come together through Ikhide’s work at Hope93. Ikhide’s work brings together the classicism of Renaissance art with the spirituality of Yoruba cosmologies and the creativity of Japanese manga to create a dialogue between the supposedly contradictory schools of practice.
